Driving is my favorite hobby-not

We had a three day weekend here. For those not familiar with the holiday- it is Rose Monday. The Monday before Ash Wednesday and almost the beginnning of Lent. Mardi Gras , Fasching, Carnival, it's all the same thing. I am not a big celebrater of Lent or Carnival so I only went to the small parade in our town. I actually LOVE parades (and fireworks) , but in Germany the purpose of Carnval seems for most people to get as drunk as possible. As having a drunk 16 year old puke on my shoes is not my idea of fun, I try to avoid a lot of the celerations on this day. What I did do a lot of this weekend was drive- Patrick, Alexander and Patricks friend from Koln. I have driven into Munster every day for the last four days- and made a number of other trips as well. All to pick up or deliver children. I guess it is part of my job as MOM , but sometimes it does get tiring.
Between the driving and the never ending laundry . I managed to finish the stitching on Peacock Cypher. All you stitchers out there reading this - prepare to cringe. I wanted to iron it before I sewed on the beads . The ironing brought out a stain on one side- I have no idea what it is, but I decided to try and wash it out. Bad idea. The whole thing got wet. The silk started to bleed etc.... now have it soaking in cold water, some fine wash stuff and some of that stuff that is supposed to keep the color that bleeds from sticking to the fabric. I hope it works. I will keep you updated. I am not a happy camper about this, as I am sure you can imagine. When the kids have gone to bed I will have another look at it. keep your fingers crossed for me.

I've fingers and toes, and legs an everything crossed - sorry I can't be more constructive than that, but I'm rooting over here that peacock cypher is OK for you.

Took another look at your latest pic of Peacock Cypher and my heart dropped at the thought of those beautiful fibers bleeding into the linen, etc! I do hope this last soak will do the trick for you!!
I enjoy driving, but will admit that too much of the same trip gets to me too. :)

Oh, Poor, poor Rachael. I do hope everythinh turned out okay. Actually, someone once told me that this happened to her, and that she washed it in bleachwater or something!!!!!! And it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that's only for the really, really brave, I think. On the other hand, if everything else has failed and it still looks a mess, you might as well try this.
As for carnaval: I hate it. But that's probably because I'm a levelheaded northener, living in the deep south. Tomorrow, everything will be back to normal.

Carnival is a drinking holiday here, too, and we avoid it!

I'm so sorry about Peacock Cypher. The mysterious stain effect recently attacked me, too, though it was a teeny, informal project and I could stitch a button over the offending patch. No idea where the stain came from, and it wasn't even there till I ironed. Yet another reason to avoid ironing.... But good luck, and let us know how it turned out.

On another subject, I am finally back online, and I want to say a huge THANKS for your phone calls and contact during a trying period. I hope we never go through this again, but if we do, I sure know who my friends are! :-)
