Help!! There is a prize involved here!

The book cases are exploding- it's time to buy more books!
Seriously folks- We are going on vacation over Easter - Center Park in The Netherlands. We will be spending lot of time swimming and saunaing ( don't think this is actually a word ,but you know what I mean) bowling and playing ping pong etc.. but I also hope to visit Amsterdam , knit , see Barbara and just relax and read. So here's the thing- I need some book suggestions. I want to make a largish order from Amazon in the next couple of days ,but I don't know what to get.
Many of my favorite authors have new books coming out in June or July , but I need something now! So please let me know what you think I would like.
Please include your shoe size if you would like a to try and win a pair of hand knit socks. The person who recommends the book I like the best will receive a pair of socks knit buy my own two hands.
If you don't want socks but just want to recommend a book - just leave out your shoe size. I know there are a lot of people out there who think hand knit socks are eeeeeee :-)

Edited- Barbara wants a hint about what I like- is will be easier to say what I don't like . I am pretty opinionated . I will never again read Danielle Steel or Stephan King. So no really cheapy Romance, and Horror is pretty much out. Scary and Romantic are both good- just not that kind. Also I won't read L. Ron Hubbard , even though the one sci fi that I read from him was pretty good. I just refuse to support that kind of thing. I think the last book that I just loved was "The time Travelers Wife" and before that it was "The Red Tent". That's all your going to get ,as I want to know what YOU think I would like.

You've got to give us a hint or two what you find interesting to read! I LOVE homemade socks. :) LOL!

The Janet Evanovich books are fun to read...I would start with One for the Money.

John Grisham's "The Runaway Jury" is also very good...I listened to the audio version in the car, and would often have to sit in my car a bit longer once I reached my destination just to finish listening to a section!

P.S. My shoe size is 8 :)

Personally, I love Lisa Wingate's books. I started with Tending the Roses. She says about her writing, "I want to create books that are entertaining, but also good for the soul-- that don't leave readers feeling sad or disappointed, or wishing they hadn't read the book at all. I think we are all called to add something good to the world, to inspire and uplift, to add our colors to the canvas. I have met so many people who have wonderful ways of doing that. I admire them. I want to be like them. I love to write about them."

I just ran across her books in our local library. Here's a link to a website about her books. http://www.lisawingate.com/

Oh, and if you choose her book/books, I wear a size 7 1/2 shoe! ;-Þ

I absolutely loved The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan when I first read it and I'm a fan of the Ya-ya books by Rebecca Wells. Of all the novels I have read over the years, I laughed and cried over these two.
And I'm about a 7.5 shoe size. : )

By the way, if I put all the books in my house all together, they would look like your cases. I have two 8 foot ones filled with books on the floor and about 4 smaller ones throughout the house.

Hmm, books. Well, I am listening to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I've never read her books before, but I think she has 6 of them in this series. If you look it up on Amazon, it shows the other ones in the series as well.

I haven't read these yet, but I've heard they are good. His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik. There are three in the series right now with a 4th out is September this year.

Hmm, I like those knitting and tea mystery books, they are quick reads, a day or so.

What about: Guns, germs and steel van Jared Diamond? I found it highly interesting.

Michael Crichton, Robin Cook or Jodi Piccoult have all written lots and are stimulating reads...
